White Knuckles

Well it was yet another fairly successful day! I made it into the office even though my phone died in the middle of the night therefore no alarm went off. Not sure what the hell is up with my phone (oh wait yes I do it’s a Zach Morris phone from 1982) and its on its last life. Seeing that I really don’t want a new one I am trying to get the most out of this bitch. I couldn’t even charge it because I left the charger in the office!

Once I arrived I plugged it in and well had 3 missed texts and a voicemail – it’s a damn good thing no one needed anything urgent because they would have been shit out of luck! The morning went rather smoothly and then my coworker and friend Dana came into my office with a little surrrr-prize for me!

I opened up the package and in it was a new iPad cover that has snoopy and other peanut comic strips on it. I was so excited, I mean I have had the iPad for almost a year ow but have refused to buy a cover for it and low and behold she found one that is perfect and gave it to me for shits and giggles!

Two of my staffers planned a little walking group and it was pretty cold today but I stopped in to see if they were still going to go, if they weren’t I was going to go to the gym. They said they were so I made the effort to join them. The picture I posted earlier is them all bundled up and ready to go – we walked for 30 minutes out in the cold. It was nice!

My afternoon meeting was its typical hour and a half and although it was informative the weather was changing and I had a full afternoon of grocery shopping to do! My fridge was completely empty and I had a list of things that I needed to get at SAMs, the grocery store and trader joes. Why you ask did I have to go today instead of my normal Sunday? Well there is no class this week and I am hosting the dinner company so I wanted to be done and ready with Sunday just being little things.

I headed out and although it was snowing I didn’t think this was going to be a big deal…I guess I shouldn’t have thought that as I haven’t been that scared driving in a really long time. I got about 5 miles from campus and the jeep did her first slide, then it just got worse the roads were pure ice. To go 12 miles it took me over 45 minutes, I was almost out of gas and just kept praying that I could get to SAMs because turning around wasn’t going to be an option either.

The road I was on was surrounded by 4 foot ditches so if you went of the road you weren’t getting back on by yourself. Oh and I think I failed to mention that I left my gloves, scarf, and beanie in the office because it really didn’t look that bad out. Mom pretty sure I pulled muscles just from the stress driving.

I was in SAMs for a little less than an hour in the hoes that the roads would clear and because honestly I needed a lot of shit. I was pretty much out of everything. When I got out I could see that the roads hadn’t cleared and being 18 miles from the house I opted to just start my adventure back home.

It took me another 45 minutes to get home but this wasn’t as bad as the trip to the store, once I got on the highway things were a little better. I made it home and unloaded the car, then made some scrambled eggs with black beans for dinner. After I inhaled that I started doing the Fun Friday cookie! They are in the fridge cooling right now before I can cut the, which is why there isn’t a picture yet.

They are a snicker doodle granola bars – but I am making them bite sized so people can try me. I also made chocolate chip cookies so that if the granola bites flop they still get something. I am taking a half day tomorrow and will go to the gym, then finish my grocery shopping come home and start baking for the random acts of Kimmie kindness! Well that is presuming the roads aren’t Shittackular!

Ok well I need to get to bed I’m exhausted! TGIF everyone!

Today my coworker and friend Dana came into my office with a present and a card! In side the present was this sweet iPad cover with snoopy! Inside the card was just a simple “just because you deserve it!” It is super cute and I’m grateful!

Day 1 of wellness challenge

I came in to these two signs posted in the office this morning! I love my staff

Hey Chica

So I’m beginning to think that someone is slipping happy pills in my drinks as although I have been so freakin busy that I haven’t had enough time to think yet things are really good and I’m happy!
This morning I needed to stop and get gas before heading into the office and well…as always it’s an adventure.

I pulled into the creepy Kroger (that’s the grocery store that I only go to if I don’t want a home to see me) for the gas perks. I got out and was about to fill Jeepy up, as I started pumping my gas I could see that the guy at the pump next to me was looking at me. Trying to avoid eye contact I just looked away. Clearly this didn’t work because the next thing I heard was “hey Chica” I look up and he is talking to me, I say hi to which he responds “how you doin” I say fine and you “he says better now that I’ve seen you” I throw up a little in my mouth and smile and start praying that the gas would come out faster.

He then says “can I get your number” I quickly remove the gas thingy and say uh no I’m sorry and get in the car I can see him making gestures and saying something but I didn’t care – sir you are baking up the wrong tree in fact you aren’t even in the right Forrest! Lol

I laughed the entire way into the office and when I walked in I found two different signs posted, both relating to the new wellness challenge! I was super excited that people were actually enthusiastic about it.

The day from that point on went fairly quick as I leave on Wednesdays about noon go to the gym for a lunch time work out and then head to the football meeting which is usually a little over 2 hours long. A workout right before this helps me to sit patiently and pay attention to everything going on.

Today’s workout had to be 45 minutes as I don’t want to be the leader who starts something but doesn’t follow though – seeing that my word to focus on is follow through I have to. I did 15 minutes on the elliptical which was a little over a mile, then I did 15 minutes on the treadmill which was a walk/run interval thingy for a little over a mile, then I did 15 minutes on the stationary or recumbent bike I think it’s called for 5 miles. Now the tension on all of these is rather weak but I was a sweating fool so I guess that’s a good thing.

After the meeting I came home and let the dogs out, made my lunch for tomorrow and tried to plan a little for tomorrow. Then Anna arrived and we went out to take Cat out for her birthday dinner. She wanted to do the Chinese buffet, so there was one by her house and well it’s a damn good thing I worked out as hard as I did today because I ate like shithole tonight. But…..it was damn good.

I have to get my shopping list ready for the next few days and make my plan of attack. I have to get the fun Friday cookies completed tomorrow night, then the First round of Random Acts of Kimmie Kindness need to be mailed out saturday morning, then the church dinner group is coming over here Sunday night. I am still not sure what I’m serving but we are doing a appetizer/tailgate theme for the Super Bowl so it won’t be overly taxing for me. Pretty sure I’m doing chili as the base and then ill whip up some other shit!

Ok well I need to finish getting things ready for tomorrow! I hope that everyone is having as good of a week as I am!

Here is the worksheet we created for better wellness!

Great Day Take 2

Well I didn’t think that I would be up and writing this right now but my alarm was set to take the girls for a walk this morning since its 65 degrees out – however it’s 65, raining off and on and the wind is blowing like the Wizard of Oz. needless to say we are up but Dorothy and the tots are staying inside.

So as promised a little recap of yesterday – we got up a little after 6 and knowing that it was supposed to be nice I had prepared to take the dingleberries for a walk. This is still something that we are all getting used to. Halie doesn’t like that she can’t fake pee every 30 steps because Huntlie pulls her along and Hunt well see is just a hot damn mess.

Huntlie isn’t a jumper per say when you come into the house but for some god forsaken reason she deems it necessary to try and jump on people as they walk by. This is rather annoying and I am trying to figure out why she is doing this. It’s like she is saying HiHiHi I’m starved for attention don’t you want to be my friend?! She still doesn’t understand that she isn’t the leader on the walks and choked herself quite a few times trying to be Rudolph.

We went out for about 3 miles and right as we were finishing up Hunt thought that it would be in her best interest to try and eat a buckeye. No not a peanut butter chocolate buckeye a real one. For those of you that are unaware real buckeyes are poisonous nuts. I quickly screamed NO and grabbed it out of her mouth, then smacked her in the head. Yes go ahead and call Betsy Puffer the head of the SPCA – she needed to know not to eat these items!!

Once we arrived back home the girls ate and I got ready for work. I wasn’t moving overly fast but still getting things together. I had my weekly meeting with my boss and as expected we discussed the meeting the day before. He was trying to push me and get me thinking outside the box. Which I understood but like I told him it would have been nice to hear thank you for doing what I asked but what if…

He said that was fair but wanted to get a real reaction from me – then he said well one thing I want you to work on is that if you don’t get the reaction you are looking for is to sit back and put your “pat hat” on before speaking again. By pat hat he meant to act more like my mom would in a situation and be nice. This made me laugh and then he and I talked about quite a few other things going on in the office. The meeting concluded with him saying by the way you are doing a really good job. I left his office on a high and went to complete more work.

I was finishing up the chart for the challenge that I was proposing to my group. I was a little unsure of how they would react especially after the meeting where my boss threw a few monkey wrenches at me. However they really seemed to buy into it! This totally excited me and is think that it actually excited them as well! The challenge is called our W.O.R.D.S challenge and WORDS stands for wellness offers rewards during semesters. Everything is on a point system, everyone has an accountability partner and not everything is hard to attain.

As we were leaving the meeting I was listening to some of the accountability partners already discussing things with one another and thought this is pretty cool – now if we will do it for the next 5 weeks that is the true challenge! Then as I sat in my office finishing things up for the day Darrell one of my assistant learning specialists who is about 902 years old came in to show me that he was already eating his healthy afternoon snack of applesauce.

He was very proud of himself and then started talking about the points that he was going to win. During this John was like what the hell are you talking about and Darrell said haven’t you heard Kim said if we get healthy we could win a 3 day cruise! I busted out laughing and then tried to explain.

I got home a little after 5 which meant I was going to be home for about 45 minutes as I was picking Katie up for the basketball game at 6! I got the girls out let them play for a little while, had dinner and looked at some emails. I already received an email from another colleague who wants to participate in the challenge and a second one from someone saying they thought the idea was a good one. This made me happy as it seems like the group is really excited about this and not just doing it because I said so.

I left picked up Katie and got to my normal parking area which is nice for getting out after the game! The game was yet again too close for comfort. I think we ended up winning by 8 but up to the last minute we were only up by 6 and they were shooting 3s like it was their job. The worse part of the game however wasn’t how close it was, it was the nitwit that was sitting next to me.

To start they were late, then she sits down and as you can see whatever the hell she was wearing was clearly alive at some point. I think during the second half I saw it move and swear it tried to bite me. She talked the ENTIRE game, and not about basketball. At one point I think that even her friend was like rally shut the hell up.

Once the game was over I dropped Katie back at home and talked about her birthday plans for saturday night – we will be going to sushi rock and then to karaoke! It’s our yearly deal we always go to Mickys for her birthday! Ok well I need to make breakfast as its part of the challenge and I still have to shower and get ready! Have a great day!

Great Day

I had a great day but I am exhausted so I will tell you all about it tomorrow! Here is a preview of what we will chat about
* this mornings walk
* the meeting with my boss
* the new health challenge my group is doing
* the basketball game

I hope everyone else had a great or at least decent day!

Is it Real?

Not sure wtf is around her neck but I’m pretty sure I saw it move and then it bit me in the second half!

Long Ass Day

Tgtdio – nope that’s not a type-o that stands for thank god the day is over! Haha I was hoping that I would have about 45 minutes at home before I had to go back to study table tonight, but that certainly was not in the cards.

Today was a fairly regular day with all of my meetings the ones that I had this morning were decent, then I ate lunch which was the crockpot honey sesame chicken. You were supposed to put this over rice, but as we all know carbs are my mcfatty downfall so I put it over a salad. I’m not going to lie the shit as pretty good! Didn’t taste great as I was burping it up while attempting to run on the treadmill but I would totally make it again!

Once I got back from the gym I had another meeting which went really well. Then I had the leadership meeting. Some weeks this is great and informative and other weeks I walk away flustered. Today was a little bit of both.

My boss has asked those of us in charge of areas to try and get our groups to be a little more mentally and physically healthy. So I drafted up something for my group and while I was trying to roll this out my boss was giving me a hard time. Part of it I know is to make me think – but the other part of it is just when I feel like he gets mad because I am doing something with just my group.

You see I drafted up this challenge that we would try and do in my group first to iron out the kinks kind of like a test group – well he basically said what will you say if someone else wants to join – my response was that I would tell them here is the sheet bt for the first few weeks its just the to group. Well he didn’t like that answer. I am still kinda baffled by the response as this was what he asked us to do but it is what it is. Ill deal with the shit and go from there!

Our leadership meeting ended up going until 5:30 which meant I didn’t even get home until 5:50, I changed my clothes, let the girls out, gave them some water, inhaled my dinner which was the left over chicken wings from last night, and got back to the Younkin by 6:18! Yep shitty not for the girls, so I’m hoping that its not pouring in the morning when the alarm goes off so I can take em for an “I’m sorry I’m a shitty mom” walk!!

Study table wasn’t too bad the natives weren’t overly restless, I just got home and the girls have finished their treats! Now I need to get things packed up and ready for the day tomorrow! Hopefully your Monday went well!
